IS GAUGE FIXING OF CONSTRAINED SYSTEMS NECESSARY

Singular systems are investigated by the canonical method and it is shown that gauge fixing, which is an essential procedure to study singular systems by Dirac's method, is not necessary. Two examples are studied.
