Design of a special purpose system for non-numeric processing

In the past, a number of solutions have been sought for the problem of searching a large database. Some of the techniques that have been investigated are associatve memories, backend machines and parallel processing. The authors present a design for a non-numeric processor for database applications. This non-numeric processor incorporates all of the techniques mentioned above. 7 references.
