EXCLUSION OF DIVERGENCES FROM THE SCATTERING MATRIX

Dmitrii Alekseevich Slavnov · Zhur. Eksptl'. i Teoret. Fiz. · 1962

A method for constructing the scattering matrix is proposed, which does not involve divergences, The absence of diverging expressions at all stages of the calculations is attained by employing a special representation for chronological contraction in the form of a limit (in the generalized sense of the word) of some functions. If certain conditions are imposed on the parameters on which these functions depend, all elements of the S-matrix are finite and identical with the regularized matrix elements constructed by the perturbation theory procedure. Unlike ordinary regularization, no compensating infinite quantities are introduced. (auth)
