An almost completely digital angular position measurement chain, based on a resolver, is presented. Its static and dynamic performances are assessed. An electromechanical model of the resolver is developed, which, besides the fundamental inductive coupling, takes the main parasitic elements into account. This model describes the combined influence of mechanical speed and electrical loading, enabling the precise evaluation of the dynamic error.
