In sensor networks, sensor nodes are required to extend battery life for long-term environmental obser- vation. To save energy, queries for observation must be adapted to the state of target objects. In this paper, we propose a dynamic query changing mechanism that realizes query adaptation of sensor nodes. Users define rules for the time-series data acquired by the nodes, which are used to detect changes of the state of target objects and generate events for the state transition of the nodes. The state transition enables the nodes to change the behavior dynamically. Nodes can execute queries adapted to states of objects, which save energy consumption by the use of sensor devices and radio communication.
