Generalizing back propagation to computation

We generalize back progagation from a algorithm for supervised learning to an algorithm for discovering computational algorithms by a constrained gradient descent in algorithm space. Our generalization is analagous to the Hopfield, Tank generalization of the Hopfield Memory to computation. We discuss extensions and applications.
