This paper discusses efforts to clarify the compatibility, safety of data transmission and acceptance of the Radio Data System (RDS) driver information system in Germany in 1986. It describes how the FM Data Coder DMC, a combination of RDS and Traffic-Radio, was used to improve operating conditions.
