Designing intelligent network architectures and services
S.Y. Yeh · 1994
The 1960's was an era of major technological changes that impacted the telecommunications industry. The introduction of large computer mainframes and the development of stored-program-controlled (SPC) switching systems began in the 1960's. These SPC systems applied digital computing techniques to public-switched telephony networks. The 1970's and the 1980's were also decades of very rapid and major changes to the software industry and the telecommunications market. Intelligent systems and intelligent networks began to be developed and deployed in both the public and private networks. These intelligent systems are typically remote databases that contain large amounts of service data, customer records and associated service logic for call processing. With the introduction of intelligent service databases for traditional circuit-switched applications, new types of network services can be offered to the end customers quickly and easily.>
