Course continuity in the Computer Science curriculum

The Computer Science curriculum partitions the subject matter into discrete courses. This division, however, is artificial and arbitrary, and, when exacerbated by a number of additional factors, leads to an apparent lack of continuity among Computer Science courses. As a result, students never perceive Computer Science as an integral discipline, nor understand and appreciate the close interrelationships that link the various sub-fields of Computer Science together. This panel will explore the reasons for the lack of course continuity, and attempt to find ways to promote continuity within the Computer Science curriculum.
