Small Signal Amplifier Design and Measurement
J.K.A. Everard · 2001
Chapter 3 describes small signal amplifier design, both broad-band and narrow-band, using both y and S parameters illustrating how both approaches offer deeper insight. The parameters described include: gain; stability; biasing; matching using both tapped LC and two component reactive matching networks; Smith chart equations and operation; the effect of loaded and unloaded Q on insertion loss; negative feedback for broadband operation with flat frequency response and simultaneous input and output match; noise; noise matching; noise measurement systems including a fundamental two temperature system, network analyser operation; interconnection jigs and error correction.
