S undt's Classes of Distributions

Raluca Vernic · Encyclopedia of Actuarial Science · 2004

Abstract Computing the aggregate claims distribution is generally not an easy task. Among various methods used for such computations, recursive methods have the advantage of giving accurate values with considerable savings in the computing time. The purpose of this article is to give an overview of the classes of counting distributions introduced by Sundt 8, these classes leading to recursive evaluation of the corresponding aggregate claims distributions.
