AN INTEGRATED ARCHITECTURE FOR FUTURE FREEWAY INFORMATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM

Michael Cremer · 1992

Reports on working being carried under the DRIVE and PROMETHEUS programs on the functional analysis and architecture synthesis for innovative traffic information and control systems. Limited to freeway traffic applications and following a top down approach, an overview of the analytical steps is given, and it is shown how an architecture synthesis may be performed in a unified framework. The paper outlines how several selected information and control functions should be integrated into an overall cooperating system making beneficial use of synergy effects.
