Important Issues on Chinese Information Retrieval

In this paper, we will emphasize the significance of Chinese information retrieval in this age of the Internet, and raise several important research issues which are fundamental and require further investigation. At the same time, we will point out some problems and requirements which have often been neglected in designing general Chinese IR systems.
