Double-talk detection schemes for echo cancellation
Heping Ding, Frank Lau · Canadian acoustics · 2004
Two new double-talk detection schemes for echo cancellation are presented. The first scheme, out-of-telephony-band level, includes an analog input sampled at 16 KHz, double the telephony system's sampling rate. It effectively detects the near-end signal masked by a much stronger telephony if a wider band is made available by the electronics, making it suitable for speakerphone applications. The second scheme, orthogonality principle, does not need a wider band and therefore is suitable for general echo cancellation.
