Physical model of the plucking process in the classical guitar

Guiseppe Cuzzocoli, Vincenzo Lombardo · University of Michigan Library Repository · 1997

This paper addresses the problem of devising a physical model of the plucking process, here applied to a specific instrument, the classical guitar. We introduce the string equations, and define the body that excites the string (actually the finger) via a set of parameters measured empirically on a real instrument. Then, we evaluate the contribution of the parameters in different phases of the bodystring interaction, to produce distinct sounds. ∗ This work has been supported in part by a financial contribution from Eudida Multimedia s.r.l., c.so Svizzera 185, 10149 Torino, Italy.
