The research presented in this thesis was conducted within the projects SiCAS and ARDOR.SiCAS (Sinusoidal Coding of Audio and Speech) was an STW funded project that started in 1999 and ended in 2001.The objective was to develop a generic audio coding system that could compete with application-optimized systems and that could adapt to the input signal, user and other time-varying constraints.In this project the following parties participated: Philips Research
