Transmission Control Protocol
James Aweya · 2003
Abstract Transmission control protocol (TCP) has become the most widely used transport‐layer protocol today. TCP provides a reliable transport service that is used by most Internet applications, including Telnet, file transfer, electronic mail, and Web page access via HTTP. An important component of TCP is the collection of algorithms used to perform congestion control and error recovery. This article describes the basic design and operation of TCP, particularly the main features that make TCP a reliable transport protocol.
