Viscosity is one of the important indicators to know the condition of the lubricant. It can be measure using falling ball method, however, this method has some disadvantage. From those disadvantages, micro-controller-based viscometer rotation has been made. The design of this tool uses DC motor with rotary encoder, micro-controller ATMega16 and LCD for the display. The data taken using new and used lubricant with the code of consistency of SAE 20W-50. The result of the measurement was that the new lubricant has higher viscosity than the used one. The more dilute the oil, the less resistance occurred in the rotation of DC motor. Yet, the result has not shown the exact value of the viscosity from the oil. The tool used has not calibrated, for to be able to be calibrated, the tool needs more improvement. The data collection was took with assumption that if oil used is standard, then the value in the range of the standard reference table. From the research of test of advisability of the micro-controller-based motorized vehicle lubricant, it is known that the rotation of viscometer with the LCD display has been able to distinguish the viscosity of new and used lubricant in numbers.
