Abstract The objective of this article is to demonstrate the computational capabilities of spreadsheets to solve an initial value problem for ordinary differential equations using the Runge‐Kutta‐Fehlberg method. Through user macros, the numeric solution is obtained with considerably less programming effort than high‐level programming languages such as Fortran. A macro program using Lotus 123 is developed, and numeric results are given.
