The Con Test
Michael Fletcher · Australian senior mathematics journal · 2009
A brief note on the Australian television game show, Con Test (FremantleMedia, 2007) which follows the same general rules and game play as the UK show PokerFace, is presented. The format of the show and a potential mathematical problem is described. In order to solve the problem modelling assumptions are provided. A knowledge of probability theory is most useful for determining the optimal strategy to use. When the results obtained are counter-intuitive, as in a case provided, any contestant who understands probability theory is at a distinct advantage over the other contestants.
