Categories of Testing

Abstract Software tests can be categorized according to a variety of criteria, including the purpose of the tests, the information source from which the tests are derived, and the life‐cycle phase for which they are intended. Each of these criteria addresses a distinct, important aspect of software tests, and clarifies the role the tests play in helping assure the software system's quality.
