Capital Project Success Factors for the Evaluation of Technology Competitiveness

The major objective of this study is to implement a technology competitiveness index of Korean plant industry that can be utilized in identifying weak points and opportunities for improvement in those areas. To meet this objective, this paper analyzes the project execution process of trash-incinerator as a sample project of plant industry. Through an expert survey, this paper identifies project management key success factors(areas) in a current project process and its relative importances. This paper surveys the competitiveness level of Korea plant industry compared with that of advanced countries in each key management area. Based on the weight of key management areas and their competitiveness level, this study evaluates competitiveness index both for each phase of project and for the total project. Through this work, this paper identifies weak areas of Korea plant industry among the key management success factors and then problems in those area.
