Electric Motor Selection for Motion Control Systems
Scott Kimbrough, Larry D. Dewell · 1990
This paper develops a procedure for selecting electric motors for motion control systems. Many motion control applications share three performance objectives: 1) satisfactory closed-loop frequency response, 2) command voltages that are within supply limits, and 3) adequate disturbance rejection. By treating these three performance ojectives as constraints, rather than simply desirable attributes, the selection process is simplified by reducing the dimension and/or extent of the design space. Selection within the reduced design space can then be accomplished by considering other objectives such as cost, weight and size.
