Efficient Methods of Radio Channel Access Using Dynamic Spectrum Access That Influences SOA Services Realization - Experimental Results

Joanna Śliwa, Robert Matyszkiel, Jan Jach · 2015

Efficient realization of SOA services that support operations on the battlefield (e.g. Blue Force Tracking) imposes increasing demands on bandwidth and reliability of the radio channel. In the article we present different types of radio channel access that enable efficient utilization of scarce resource that is frequency band, which harden radio communications system to purposeful interference (continuous monitoring of frequency spectrum in order to select radio channel with the highest signal to noise ratio). Two popular channel access methods will be compared: Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) that is based on assignment to each corresponding entity a time window in which he can transmit and Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) Multichannel that enables parallel analysis of the assigned channels in the network, and consequently - simultaneous reception in a few channels. Due to the application of the presented algorithm radios can transmit, using different radio channels. Experimental researches that the authors conducted present efficiency of both methods that will be shown on the basis of the transmission speed. The results of radio throughput have direct influence on services realization and support for the commanders on the battlefield.
