A simplified message-passing library

A simplified interface to MPI, the standard library for message-passing in distributed computing, is presented. This simplified library is based on a minimalist subset of MPI with the goal of allowing students to program and execute simple message-passing programs on a network of workstations. Standard mode point-to-point and environmental functions are included, as well as a small number of collective communication functions.
