Session 11 overview - ultra wideband solutions

Ali Hajimiri, Tom Schiltz · 2005

The last decade has seen an exponential increase in the demand for higher bit rates for existing and emerging applications. Until recently, this has been addressed by the gradual migration from lowspeed dial-up to higher-speed Ethernet and fiber. Unfortunately, these broadband solutions require a wired connection that limits users' mobility. Emergence of broadband high-quality video and audio applications as well as high-speed home and enterprise networking makes it highly desirable to achieve similar bit rates in a wireless fashion.
