Oscillatory behavior in a spatiotemporal neuron
Soo-Won Kim, Manjula B. Waldron · 2002
In this paper, the time varying threshold of a spatiotemporal neuron (STEN) is explored. The computer simulation of time varying threshold shows that output of a STEN produces oscillations similar to a biological neuron. Further these oscillations differ in frequency when the inputs are spatially and temporally related. These distinctive frequencies provide STEN its 'directional' and 'temporal' sensitivity. This oscillatory behavior of STEN we believe will be important in building neural networks capable of processing complex time varying, spatiotemporal signals.>
