The Language Environment and Syntactic Word-Class Acquisition.
Jakub Zavrel, Jorn Veenstra · 1996
this paper we discuss a distributional analysis of the Wall Street Journal corpus. It is shown that the distributional properties of words in this corpus form a rich source of information for the derivation of syntactic word-classes. If there is so much information in the language environment of children, it would be unwise for them (and for us) to ignore this source of information.
