Introduction to WLAN IEEE802.11 Communication on Mobile Devices

In this chapter we will introduce the basics of IEEE802.11 WLAN communication, including the infrastructure-based and ad hoc possibilities. We will then show the use of (mainly ad hoc) WLAN networks on S60 devices together with Symbian code snippets, and provide the experimental code of a mobile ad hoc Monitor program that displays an estimated graph of the participating nodes in an ad hoc network on the basis of the signal strengths of the links.
