Resolution of spatially close broadband coherent sources incident on a general array

The multiple source location problem is solved for a general array geometry using an effective high-resolution algorithm. The incident plane waves can be a mixture of coherent and incoherent signals that are broadband and/or narrowband in nature. In this algorithm, the nonnoise level array eigenvectors are first determined at several frequencies where the signal-to-noise level is deemed adequately large. These eigenvectors are then used in a frequency-averaging criterion whose minimization produces the desired low-variance estimate of the directions of arrivals.>
