Concurrent computation and the theory of complex systems

Geoffrey Fox, Steve W. Otto · OSTI OAI (U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information) · 1986

Lessons from the implementation of a variety of mainly scientific problems on the Caltech Hypercube are discussed. Both the problems and the hypercube are viewed as examples of complex systems and properties of systems that determine which problems map well on to what concurrent computers are discussed. The dimension, topology, size, and temperature of complex systems are also discussed. 28 refs., 16 figs.
