Multiple Access Schemes for Point‐to‐Multipoint Operation

Martin P. Clark · 2001

For point-to-multipoint wireless communication, in which a number of remote stations share a common radio spectrum, technical provisions are necessary to allow for ‘multiple access’ to the spectrum. This chapter describes the three most important technical realisations of ‘multiple access’, together with their relative strengths and limitations: CDMA (code division multiple access), FMDA (frequency division multiple access) and TDMA (time division multiple access).
