A West-German approach for off-line optimising by CATE

P. Behr, K Schlabbach · Traffic engineering & control · 1990

CATE - Computer-Aided Traffic Engineering - is an interactive system for traffic engineers which offers very easy processing and fast calculation working on special traffic problems in signal control. It is state-of-the-art and represents the traffic strategies and traffic engineering development in Europe. The system has been developed to achieve the following objectives: a system to support, relieve, and speed up the traffic engineer's daily routine, so that he has more time for special researches and higher-quality solutions; a greater reliability in planning through the provision of a consistent database; and a simple and user-friendly system, in which a pencil and eraser are replaced by screen and keyboard.
