Adaptive reconstruction of lost block using difference of DC in DCT domain

In this paper, an adaptive reconstruction of lost block in image over unreliable channel is presented. DCT coefficients in the lost blocks are recovered by interpolation using available neighboring blocks that are adaptively selected using the DDC (difference of DC opposite blocks). The previous methods in the frequency domain could not present the good quality for the edge regions because the correct directional reconstruction of the DCT coefficients is difficult in the regions. The reconstruction using the DDC is efficient to recover the regions of edge, texture and smoothness regions. Simulation results show that the quality of recovered image is successful and the computational complexity is low.
