Content Caching and Multicast

This chapter focuses on efficient one-to-many content transport and, specifically, three flavors of it: IP multicast, application-layer multicast, and on-demand proxy caching. This chapter concludes that a combination of both proactive multicast and on-demand caching enables the most scalable blend of one-to-many content delivery on the Web.
