Image discernibility in hybrid systems
David D. Sworder, K.S. Haaland · 2003
In many hybrid systems, two types of measurements are taken as the system evolves. The first is a direct function of the continuous portion of the system state. The associated noise is often well modeled by a wideband (white) noise process, and the measurement equation is expressed in an Ito form. The second type is a direct indication of the status of the discrete portion of the system state. The interpretation of this latter requires analysis of the panoramic features of the data stream created by the sensor suite. The requisite processing can be performed corporeally or algorithmically. The authors describe some of the basic features of modal estimation along with some reflections on the effect of unforeseen modal events.>
