Space and polarisation diversity in a microcellular channel

A. Kukushkin, J. McCarthy · 2002

The large variations in the received signal level in mobile communications systems due to multipath and scattering effects means designers must search for methods to meet the service quality performance requirements. The paper addresses the performance of both space and polarisation diversity combiners in a microcellular environment. The results discussed were obtained from a computer-based simulation. The performance was measured in terms of either fade statistics for a deterministic channel or a synchronisation error rate versus delay spread for a random channel.
