Important Regions in the Articulator Trajectory

This paper deals with identifying important re-gions in the articulatory trajectory based on the physical properties of the trajectory. A method to lo-cate critical time instants as well as the key articula-tor positions is suggested. Acoustic-to-Articulatory Inversion using linear and non-linear regression is performed using only these critical points. The ac-curacy of inversion is found to be almost the same as using all the data points. 1
