A power law in the α-wave dynamics

We perform by a wavelet analysis a study of the time behavior of the /spl alpha/-wave events occurring in human electroencephalographic (EEG) signals. We find that the fraction of the time spent in an /spl alpha/-burst of time size /spl tau/ exhibits scaling behavior as a function of /spl tau/. The corresponding exponent is equal to 1.75/spl plusmn/0.13.
