Jacques Mathyer, D.Sc., is First Assistant and Privat Docent of the Institute of Police Science and Criminology, University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr. Mathyer received his diploma in police science and criminology from the University of Lausanne and Doctor of Sciences from the University of Lyon (France). He is one of Europe's leading experts in the field of questioned documents, and we are privileged to have the opportunity to present this discussion of the basic problems of signature examination based upon procedures used in Western Europe.
