Design and Analysis of Low‐Density Parity‐Check Codes for Applications to Perpendicular Recording Channels

Abstract In this paper we introduce a novel class of a very high‐rate low‐density parity check codes and analyze their performance in a perpendicular magnetic recording system. Our codes are well‐structured and, unlike random codes, can lend themselves to a very low complexity implementation for high speed applications.
