Data Acquisition and Process Control
Suresh G. Pinjarkar · Journal of the Technical Councils of ASCE · 1982
Automatic data acquisition and control systems are discussed. Computerized systems are used in laboratory, field, and industrial applications to acquire, process, and control test parameters. The new generation of data acquisition systems are microprocessor controlled and offer direct interfaces with minicomputers. This paper presents an analysis of data acquisition systems, computer interfacing, characteristic of data transmission and other hardware requirements. A complete description of an in-house computer controlled system is provided. An example of the operation of the system is presented to highlight the benefits of the system to the engineers.
