TECHNOLOGYDynamic random access memory (DRAM) sets the standard for packing the most information into the least amount of space, with the smallest bits currently measuring just over a tenth of a square micrometer in area. But DRAM must be refreshed thousands of times a second, so for some tasks computers also use other types of memory.
