Towards a unified view of petri nets and object oriented modeling
Pedro M. G. del Foyo, José Reinaldo Silva · 2003
Abstract. The present work presents a preliminary proposal of unification between classical Petri Nets and objects based on two classes: the activity class and the box class. Eventually one of them can be interpreted as passive or active object, but both can equally contain attributes and methods specified by net formalism. So far, the result is a classical net formalism where each component is an object belonging to a class diagram. We claim that such proposal can be instantiated by several extended net approaches and also preserves some analytical properties of the classic net formalism. Specific examples are showed in workflow analysis.
