In this paper the use of adaptive antenna arrays for OFDM-CDMA system in ground-based communications is investigated. We present the performance of adaptive beamforming for OFDM-CDMA systems for both AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. Three adaptive beamforming algorithms are considered: maximum SNR, minimum mean square error (MMSE), and maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (MSINR). The effect of a finite number of samples for estimating the appropriate statistics for beamforming algorithms is examined. Finally, the impacts of different channel conditions such as angle spread and the user location on the performance of the adaptive beamforming is evaluated.
