Future networks allocate bandwidth to multimedia streams in order to provide QoS guarantees. Currently, the peak bandwidth is often reserved for the real-time streams leading to waste of bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a novel method to provide QoS guarantee on real-time streams by keeping a bandwidth reservoir in the stored streams. We have analyzed and evaluated the QoS performance of the streams and the efficiency of the network. We have found that the new method can reduce the number of starvations, prevent wasting bandwidth, and increasing the bandwidth utilization. Thus, the new method can efficiently utilize network resources.
