A study on Component & Prototype Design of Transfer Informatiion for the Multi-modal Tranfer Center

Public transportation information system is one of the most important parts of public transportation system. However, the public transportation information system has been relatively disregarded. As the result, public transportation usage has not been increased. In other words, our public transportation system lacks of information database, information provision media, information provision contents and institutional supports. This study presents the standard prototypes for the provision of public transportation information depending on the various types of multi-modal transfer centers. For the purpose, this study analyzes the demands for the various types of public transportation information. Study result shows that the design of transfer information depends on the types of information, provision media and travel steps. The result of this study, real time bus arrival information, bus route, kiosk, bus headway, etc is most important factor in order to increase usage of public transportation. information provision media is according to priority internet, PDA ,mobile phone. this study can contribute to standardize the multi-modal transfer information provision. Above all, it is urgent to provide institutional system.
