Sensor-assisted ALOHA for wireless networks

Terrence L. Fine, Stephen B. Wicker, T. Berger, Joseph Yehuda Halpern · 2002

A neural network-based system for stabilizing ALOHA random access networks is described. A grid of sensors is used to gather energy measurements for a neural network. The neural network has been trained to estimate the number of colliding users in a given slot, supporting an algorithm that tracks the number of backlogged users in the system.
