How to track pitch pulses in LP residual ? - joint time-frequency distribution approach

The analysis-by-synthesis method has been accepted in speech signal processing such as speech coding algorithms, and speech synthesis algorithms. The linear prediction (LP) residual obviously contains the pitch information, and speech coding algorithms try to analyze and synthesize it. How to improve the performance of these algorithms is the motivation of our research work. If the most important components in the LP residual can be identified, a new way to reach our motivation will be found. The joint time-frequency distribution (TFD) has been developed and applied on radar systems in recent years. A new algorithm based on TFD is proposed and the performance on tracking pitch pulses is described (the algorithm can identify the onset and end position of a pitch pulse).
