Some ideas for the automatic acquisition of dialogue structure

We are reporting on some initial results on the automatic acquisition of plan operators for a plan recognizer. The operators are derived from the Verbmobil corpus of negotiation dialogues hand-annotated with dialogue acts. The corpus is pre-classified and a set of plan operators is derived for every class. The plan operators are then tested on a set of unseen data. We also show some initial results. 1 Introduction The verbmobil project [13, 5] is a long term project founded by the German ministry for Education, Science, Research, and Technology, for developing an automatic interpreting system for taks oriented face-to-face dialogues. The main work so far has been concerned with the translation of natural spoken German into English, in the domain of appointement scheduling.
